The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men
From the time I was a youngster my folks always said, "God has a plan for your life, Ron." I hear people quote the verses like, "I know the plans I have for you. Plans to bless you and not to curse you." That's all well and good. But I think I've wasted alot of time and opportunities worrying about if something I decided on was God's plan. I think the plan is that I do something. The plan is that I be something. The plan is that I take the talents and abilities I have and use them. It doesn't really matter how. What matters is that I take what I've been given and use it productively. In a way that will not only make me happy, but will benefit others. That's the plan. It's the same for everyone. So let's stop worrying about the perfect plan, or if it's God's will. As the Nike commercial says, "Just Do It." That is the plan. So now I have to decide how I want to make the plan look.

Finally! I know it's nice hearing stuff like that...but let's be realistic wouldn't that be too easy? People will say God bless this bless that, but He gave us a free wil, He gave us arms, legs, and a brain. Should we be lazy to "leave it all to God"? How wrong is that. Do it for yourself! Why rely on Him on something that you can do yourself!
ReplyDeleteIt's just some of the discrepancies I have with some of the terminology people use between Christians.
I have found that we should "DO IT"...unless we know it to be wrong, like having an affiar with your neighbor's wife, or stealing a car, or cheating on your income tax, etc...somethings we KNOW are clearly out of the will of God. I have learned that if we follow our heart and our desires, since God does often grant us the desires of our hearts, it is often his will and looking back at the situation HE put that desire there so he could fullfil and get the praise for the wonderful outcome. If it is NOT his will, believe me...he will let you know. So just DO IT is right and if you acknolwedge the Lord, he promised to make your path straight, meaning he'll either bless it or tell you "wrong way!"
